Pedicure Party!
Having a pedicure party can be a great way to bring lots of fun to giving a pedicure! Some people have pedicure parties where they hire professional technicians to perform the pedicures. This is certainly a very viable option, but this page deals more with friends getting together to have fun while pampering each others feet. What could get better than you and some good friends getting together, talking about good ole times and getting your feet done at the same time for free! Planning a pedicure party can be simpler than you think too, you just have to decide on a few things. Invitees First make a list of all the people you think would be interested in your pedicure party. Think of all your friends that really need a pedicure and might not be able to afford or be too apprehensive to get a professional one. Keep in mind too that some people might sound interested when they talk to you, but you must ask yourself the following question. Are they really the kinds of people who would sit down and participate in such a party and have a good time? Many parties have been dragged into the realms of boredom or discomfort due to 1 or 2 sticks in the mud. A pedicure party can be a small affair of just about 2-5 people. You can go larger if you wish but the larger you go, the more complicated things will get and everyone might not have an enjoyable experience. Venues that are too crowded and too cluttered might turn what would have been a nice, warm, intimate social gathering into an impersonal, tense detention session. So there’s no need to try and pack a stadium, a few cool friends or family members will do nicely. Venue Go over your list and think about the area you’ll need to accommodate them all. Remember these people won’t just be sitting around. They’ll need room to lay out their supplies and room to stretch their legs out and have someone work on their feet if needed. By now you’ll probably be wanting to cross a few names from your list to streamline the event. A bedroom or a living room might be a good idea. If the outside is cool (and free of bugs!) the event might even be able to be pulled off on a patio. Patios are nice because if a mess is made, the clean up is usually much easier. Sometimes getting together and pitching in for an evening at a hotel for the pedicure party might also be a good idea. The outing can be used as a getaway. After the pedicure (and after the polish dries), everyone could relax in the pool or hot tub if the hotel as one. If you rent a room, try to get the most for your money though. Combine the pedicure party into a hair, manicure, pedicure, facial party and maybe everyone could sleep the night. The possibilities are endless! Supplies You can either ask everyone to bring their own supplies or different people can be in assigned to bring a single or a few items. Encourage everyone though to bring at least some basic supplies like their own pedicure bowl, mechanical exfoliant (loofah, pumice stone or foot file), towel and nail brush (or old toothbrush). This ensures a certain level of cleanliness. You can buy large plastic bowls to serve as pedicure tubs from a dollar store, where you might also find inexpensive pumice stones, towels and nail brushes. Also, ask everyone to bring a bottle of polish that can be shared so everyone can have a choice of different colors. The rest of the items on the list you can split up among the people who plan to attend. For instance, one person can be in charge of bringing a big bag of cotton and a bundle of cuticle sticks while another can be in charge of bringing the base and top coats. Look through our definitive pedicure guide for a list of required supplies and read through for tips on choosing the best ones. If you desire, you can take a collection and purchase all the items and have them at the venue. This is the more complicated route though and totally up to you. Refreshments Giving pedicures is hard work! They also take time. The munchies will most likely have set in before the pedicures are done. You can take a collection at the venue to get light refreshments or everyone can bring a bowl of something to eat when they arrive. Ordering pizza might not be a bad idea either. Whichever route you decide, tackle the food situation before the pedicures start because once they’ve begun it will be hard (or not feasible) for anyone to leave. Decide also if there will be alcohol flowing at the party because you may want to serve liquor during the very, very final stages of the party. Imagine trying to paint on such a small canvas as someone’s toenail whilst being plastered! Work Flow You can either have everyone split up and do their own feet which would negate the comradery or you can arrange it so that everyone does the feet of someone else. The latter is usually the more fun and friendly way! Pairs can sit opposite each other and perform the different phases of the pedicure to their partner simultaneously. This is ideal for bonding and getting the most out of the interactions between friends. For the nail grooming and cuticle treatment segments or any portion that requires working with the tops of the feet, sitting at an angle would be required. Make sure to refer to our Definitive Pedicure Guide for the steps to performing a good pedicure. Party Favors To spice up the party a bit you can purchase little, fun toe separators or disposable pedicure slippers as party favors. Adding bubble bath to the foot soaks usually adds a bit of playfulness to the mix as well. The net is littered with many little pedicure oriented trinkets you can get as party favors. To make sure the event will be enjoyable, make sure there is enough space to accommodate everyone and make sure the people that you invite get along well together and are prepared to put in the actual work. Encourage everyone to get their own basic supplies as addressed above. This ensures a speedy process and cleanliness. It may also be good to print out copies of the pedicure guide so everyone can work from their own copy. This eliminates confusion.
